Default 328 CID GEN III. 4.0 Bore x 3.27 Stroke

Here's the rundown

-6.0L truck Iron block with stock bore 4.00"

-2007 4.8L Truck crankshaft. Stroke is 3.27"

-2007 4.8L Truck connecting rods 6.275" Long. These are full floating rods.

-2006 LQ4 6.0L Truck pistons. Coated Skirts. 4.00" Bore. Full floating pistons.

It works out to only .001 difference in compression height between the 4.8's piston and the 6.0's piston, the only thing that will have to be done really is the assembly balanced, other than that I don't see any issues with it going together.

Does anyone see any advantages of running this setup versus any other? The only thing I see is that the piston speed will be reduced from nearly 4,000with a 6.0L to around 3,500 with this setup.

The main reason I want to build this is for the sound. Every short stroke motor I have had any dealings with just sounds different.

Anyone else done this yet?

My buddy is building the same set up but with lighter weight rods and pistons. He's planning on revving it to the moon. Lol. Personally I feel more cubes = more power but with your set up you can use ls3 heads and intake and a nice rev happy cam and have a really fun motor that will probably get decent mpg as long as the cam isn't too big. Becareful of ptv clearance if you do plan on using the ls3/l92 heads. But I think it'll definately be intersting. But then again if you use the factory 6.0 crank you could have 370 cubes such should equate to about 40 more rwhp and more torque at about 6500 rpm's. Plus if this is going in the truck such rpm range sounds more suitable for your driving style?

Katech made a Sneak Attack LS7 which is actually 346ci, 4.125 bore and 3.24 stroke with an 8000rpm redline. Uses ls7 heads and dry sump oiling-580hp with 100 octane. This is similar set up just bigger, and has high rpm if thats what ur looking for.
