Not entirely accurate. The 2000 LQ4 had Iron heads.

In stock form its barley worth the swap from a 346.
esp. if you count the weight added.

nobody posted, because hp is subject to what other mods, drivetrain, etc. will be used with the motor.
the ratings for all the lq4/9 were about the same for each.
if using a bone stock engine, dont expect any more hp than what is rated.
if go with lt,ls6 intake, etc. etc. it changes the outcome of the engine obviously

Dually noted, but my post asked what did they put down (rwhp, not rated hp) in stock form through the F-body drive train (specifcally a stock auto).

I then linked to my thread in the Dyno/Bench racing section for people to post what it would make with my mods.

That being said, the engine is going in regardless

It doesn't help that some of my posts are longer than most books :/

so the difference in pistons alone, dished and flat top, accounts for no difference in engine output? or is it just very little? ive noticed a lot while looking for 6.0's that lq9's are a slight more expensive in price. is it worth paying the extra cash for an lq9?

Well there is a difference in power because the flat top piston produces a higher conpression ratio, which ends up as more horse power. Swap out the stock 317 heads with some smaller combustion chambered heads like ls6 heads or better, and you end up with an even higher ratio. I can't remember, but I thought the difference between the two motors was a whole point in compression?
