anyone dd your cammed cars?
I dd mine also with traffic everyday outta work with no probs. With a good tune you wont have any trouble except keeping your foot outta the gas lol. Clutch is a dif. story in traffic. Could use a bit more gear too.
I could DD mine, but chose not too, no AC and it is hot here now. Car has a 383 with a 238/240 cam, 3600 stall, and the exhaust is a 2OTL. It drones between 2300-2700 RPMs and surges a little when cold, but other than that it is a blast to drive.
i can dd drive mine if i didn't like driving my 02 Z71 Ext. Cab so much
. But when i do drive my car , i love it . it's tame enough to drive with the ol'lady and with the a/c on or with the tops out. i love my set-up . my exhaust is a stock slp d/d .

Mine: 234/230 602/598 on 116, full bolt ons, 4k stall, built '60e, 3.73s. Drive it every chance i have.

My SS has a 228/228 cam and has never been a DD until recently but I love it. Poly motor and trans mounts, moser 9" w/ 410 gears and a tex 0700 clutch... pretty streatable if you ask me. Plus, it get's way better mileage age than my club cab Z71 that my girl's driving.
ls2 with worked dart 225 heads.
streetsweeper cam 236-240 .610 .610 111 LSA
vic jr intake manifold with custom elbow
home made true CAI
kooks long tube 1-7/8th headers, no cats, h-pipe, super 40's
stock clutch (shockingly, its a freak stock clutch!!!)
it drives beautifully. my mom has driven it without issue, and she hasnt driven a manual in 20 years.
I hate to use a cliche, but its "all in the tune". As long as the cam isnt absurd (like 246+ in a ls2) nearly all the bad behavior can be tuned out. I can let off my clutch and let the 700 rpm idle start to roll me down the block a 6mph or so without any issues.
It may take time, but you can tune out the bucking, surging, etc for the most part. Now, if you go to big you will get shitty power in the lower rpm range still, that cant be tuned out.

I DD mine around 50 miles a day. Slp dual dual exhaust with no cats and long tubes, can hardly hear it cruising down the freeway in 6th gear. Sounds great around town but is pretty tame not to **** people off unless I get on it. I get 25+ mpg on the freeway and around 18 in town. The only issues I am currently having is with the custom ram air I built, blocks a good portion of the radiator and the car is running hotter than it was. I have done all the tuning myself and I must not be the greatest tuner because there is no way I can just let the clutch out at an idle. Might have something to do with 3.42 gears and a 1st gear that will do 55 mph. I can putt around pretty well in 1st gear on off the throttle around 1000-14000 rpm. When I first started tuning it there was no way it would run worth a **** below 1500 without bucking like a crazy *** bronco!
I daily drive my cam only 2000 TA. It's a comp 220/224 .547/.550. Full exhaust headers back, ory, corsa w/ a cut out that's open about 99% of the time. I had it tuned at TSP, and since then it has great power across the board and some great mid range tq. Still get decent mileage on the highway about 26-28, but lost a bit in the city around 14-17. Cars a M6 with the factory 3.42's. I'm def happy with it, but wish I went with a little bigger of a cam like a 228R or a TSP 233/239...
i dont usually DD mine, but i am at the moment tsp v2 110 LSA,4:10's. I need a tune but the car is M6 so there is really no issue with driving it. If it were my only means to travel i would have gone 112LSA
Im going to go back 4.10's when i switch to 9in. or 12bolt, it shouldent be too much gear for the highway since i put a 6speed in my car.
