Default Comp 918 Springs!!!! Question???

Does anyone know if people are still having problems with the 918's, Ive got a Brand new set and they say their good for .625 lift... Im slapping in the TSP228R cam, Specs: 228/228 .588 .588 112lsa and have a set of Comp 918's with Chromoly push rods to go with my 241's.. But Ive heard horror stories in the past. I wouldn't use them, even if they are the "new version"

Go with PAC 1218.

Installed over 100 sets of 918's over the years, never had one break.

To clarify, the new Comp 26918 is rated to .600" valve lift, not .625".

Regardless if these are rated at 0.600" or like the old style that stated they were good to 0.625" lift you're running 0.588" so I wouldn't worry about them at all.

FWIW I've pushed a 918 to .620 lift before. It was SET UP properly, and last over 15K miles w/ .620 lift before we changed to doubles.

With a coil bind at 1.10", I never recommend that kind of lift for the 918's (most just don't have the tools or know-how to set that combo up properly/safely). It's just as affordable to get into the PAC 1518 and take advantage of that extra bit of wiggle room from their 1.08" coil bind.

I wasn't in a competition of who should listen to me. I was stating my experiences.

Nothing wrong with the PACs, I use them on occasion. I've just never personally had a problem with a Comp 918, even the "old" batches. Hell, I never broke a 941 spring either, and for the older fellas out there you all know how bad those use to be about breaking. Guess my wrenches just have a touch of luck in them. J/K

Thanks Matt. I'll be calling you guys in a couple of days. Got a customer that wants some of your heads.
