Yea you pretty much got everything he needs except for the heads of course and the lifters are not necessary unless the vehicle has high mileage than it be best!

I did an MS4 on my LS1 and left the oil pump, rod, and head bolts alone. It ran just fine, but if I had the money I would have done them. This was on my 2004 GTO.

LSA doesn't matter. Get texas speed pushrod/ PRC dual spring combo. And yes 7.4 pushrods work. I got that combo/ ported ls6 oil pump, and ls2 timing chain when we did mine.

MS4 is okay cam. Awesome top end, not so great low, mid range.
You need the cam, spring package, and oil pump.
Get a custom cam, might make 5-10rwhp less but have awesome low and mid range power with a better idle for a DD.
I made 414rwhp and 38xrwtq with LT headers, catted Y pipe, corsa catback, MS4, and STOCK LS1 intake THROUGH an Automatic!

btw i hated my MS4.

lol ^^^ speaks the truth. Except i love the massive topend power of the ms4. I just needs gears, badly, to get me into the power band.

Nothing against TSP. I love there work and i still use them as a vender for most of my new motor.
But i would personally spend the extra 40$ and get a custom cam, hell it might make more then the MS4.

A cam that had better low and mid range power BUT makes a little less than the MS4 at the top end would - at a roll the MS4 would lose. In a drag i am thinking it still would lose.

How would the ms4 lose from a roll with more top end?

Low end is for the birds...

I know its hard to be able to keep up with traffic at 1/2 throttle in a 400+ hp car but i bet you can make it...

The lobe separation is important because it will affect the piston to valve clearance(which is already tight). I would stick with the 111LSA if you are dead set on this cam, but agree that it may not be the best choice for an otherwise stock engine.

MS4 is a pretty popular cam, those who liked it performance, also coupled the setup with gears such as a 4.10. Make sure that it is the cam you want, if you have never owned a cammed car before, your taste in a cam is usually completely different than someone else. If you are an A4, you will need a stall, I would get a 4000. With a stall, you will need a tranny cooler too. If you are an M6, you might need to look into a clutch. You cant just put an MS4 w/ springs and pushrods and call it a day. No cam for that matter. There is a lot of expenses that go unaccounted for until mid-way through the build. Do some research on here before you fire away. Also, you didn't say if you had any other mods like headers or intake etc. I'm assuming you do, if not, don't even bother with a camshaft swap until you get those.

Dual springs
hardened push rods
ls6 oil pumo
ls2 timing chain
if your an a4 4k converter.. would not suggest anything smaller
tune (better have a good tuner if your DD it.. it can be tuned to run as good as a 226 cam, but you gotta have the tuner to do it.

oil anti freeze etc etc.. i would set aside another 100 bucks besides the stuff listed for the "O-****, you need this" "*snap* ****! broke the oil sending unit"...

The MS4 is definitely a max effort top end camshaft. It's definitely the most power stock bottom end camshaft we've tested in our engine dyno testing. That being said it will require some extra gear to get you to that power band quickly. I personally really like the average power the Torquer 3 camshaft makes. We're talking about giving up 7-8hp up top to gain a camshaft that makes power earlier in the rpm band. The result is a camshaft that makes great power & is a blast to drive everyday.

Just something to consider!

^^^^

if i could do it over... i would go with something like i have in my car now just a TAD bigger...
something like a 230/232 .600 lift on a 113 lsa would be nice.. nice TQ, nice top end... very streetable and doesnt need 410s/ported 92 setup/320+ heads/etc..

that cam is not "budget built" friendly.. will it run good? yes! i built mine on a budget and was running 7.2@95mph.. that was in 90 degrees without a tune for heads, spinning, and hitting rev limiter.. car weighed right at 3000lbs.

my car with the current custom 226 cam.. has 373s instead of 410s, ls6 instead of ported 9090, crappy ported 317 heads instead of STG1 PRC ls6 heads.. and is FULL weight. runs 7.4@91.5 with not such a good tune on it..

just giving you some options and things to think about..

well i am putting the LS1 in my 92 firebird which is strictly a drag car. I have the whole car completely stripped and it is an automatic. The car is probly weighing in at 2800-3000 pounds. I plan on building up a TH400 to handle the horsepower and would like to use a 3500-4000 stall. Currently I don't have headers just manifolds and I will be using an Edelbrock Victor Jr. for my intake manifold because I'm using a carb. The main reason I want to put a cam in the engine is because I love that chopping sound idling.

the Ms4 is an amazing off the shelf cam shaft.. not many cams out there right now will have the DD manners it does along with the tuning capabilities with the added plus of major power where it matters the most..

out of the "donkey dick" cams, it has my vote..

if you hated it, your tuner sucks or you mismtached your setup..

at roll and a dig the ms4 will lose.... your on crack..

For a few miles then did a 3600 yank stall. Still did not like it.
Then motor blew...
