what cam in my set up with a stroker ? i am doing a ls1 swap in my 87 iroc z28
i bought a 2002 used ls1 from a junkyard and it ran great
i am getting it rebuilt with a stroker kit but idk witch one to use
the 395ci 3.902 bore and 4.1 stroke or 383 3.905 bore and 4.00 stroke
i want about 500 - 550 rwhp
eagle brand
so thats my stroker ? witch one to use
now the cam ?
i know very lil about cams get that out there
i want a very aggressive cam with a low loud rumble and a slight rough idle
i will be getting a cam kit wit dual springs and pushrods
i jus dont know what cam to get for either stroker
plz help me and i will answer any ? u have
and i am keeping the stock heads for now but planning to upgrade when i get more money
and also lookin to get a 150 - 200 shot of n20

IMO, put your $$ into a nice 346 rebuilt, you can use the $1000 crank money for a good set of heads and pop a mid 230 cam in there.
Stroking and running stock heads is futile.
I'll give you an exercise:
run an 1/8th mile normaly, record your time
run an 1/8th mile with your mouth shut and 1 nostril plugged, record your time.

Yea throwing $$ into a stroker with stock heads is a waste.
Lighten up the car, leave the bottom end alone, and build a nasty little 346. With proper gearings and a driver it'll be plenty fast.

i am getting a pair of heads jus not right now
i will work on weight later i am jus getting the drivetrain as strong as i can get wit the amount if money i have
but i might have enough left for some heads
what heads do you rec?

what he said...i did it and just my top end upgrade last fall was 12k (tfs 215, yella terra, kooks headers and 3x3 catted pipe, fast 92 ported, ls2 ported t body, vrx5 cam, meziera, ati underdrive, 7.5 pushrods, new lifters, gaskets...you get the idea....install and tune...but i made 532/ 472 from my 383
