lifter noise
I have lifter noise after a heads and cam swap. They are TSP 2.5 5.3L heads, .040 gaskets, cam is a 224 224 .600 .590 114lsa Oil pressure is 65psi at start, noise loudness increases as rpms increase. Currently running a 7.4 pushrod which is too long I feel. pulled a valve cover while running and there does not seem to be much oil coming from the pushrods, which makes me think the lifters are not getting oil, The oil o ring was installed correctly, would not have 65psi otherwise. would a push rod thats too long cause the lifter to not retain oil and thus cause a clacking noise? and also cause not much oil to come up to the top of the valvetrain.?
Thanks again, James.

That'd be your best bet to get the correct length. We can all guess at it all day based on experience, but at the end of the day there's enough variance there that you really should measure it and save the headache
