Default CAM Combo - Basic Questions (Fuel, NOS, tuning, etc...)

First the car: 98 M6 with some basic bolt-ons = MTI lid, MAF and 100HP dry NOS. It's now NOT a daily driver, has 40k miles on it and 35k of those happened the first 3 years. It's now a weekend toy.

The New Combo and some questions:
CAM TR224 @ 112, Comp 918, TiRetainers & hardened PS's
FLP LT headers & Y-pipe
LoudMouth Exhaust
SLP 85MAF w/smooth bellows

1. With this new Combo, will I need to upgrade the fuel pump due to the NOS?
It is a 98 and everything I have read states the 98's are better equiped to handle more HP based on the higher rated Fuel Injectors.

2. Who has experience running this SAME combo including the NOS?

3. Tuning? Do I need it, is it recommended? I'm just trying to figure out if the $500 or so is worth it.

I'm sure some other ?'s will pop in my head as soon as I hit "POST"

This is my first post on LS1tech, I was an early 1998 member of LS1.com and spent countless hours reading posts. Then I got married....well, enough said....

Thanks

I would really appreciate some feedback.

Especially in regards to "If my 98 fuel system will be sufficient for this CAM, headers, NO CATS, Loudmouth and 85mmMAF set-up.....

I know someone on LS1Tech has a similar set-up, come on fella's.....

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a pretty good setup man. I am not really a N2O guy so I cant help you much there, but I can tell you that most people reccomend cams with more exhaust duration than intake duration for N20. As far as the fuel system you do have the bigger 28# injectors in your car from the factory, but as far as I know your fuel pump is the same as all the other years. Again post about N2O in the Nitrous section of this board. You will most definately want tuning with that cam, it will idle better, and pull harder with a good tune.

Hope this helps,
-Nick

First off....I don't think anyone has found a cam yet that DIDN'T work well on the LS1 with N2O. Single pattern cam will be fine.

What kind of N2O setup are you going to run? I assume a dry kit since you are concerned with fueling?

Dry shots up to 125 should be safe as long as the fuel pump holds up OK. These fuel pumps are notoriously poor for longevity.

Same for wet system, but the demands on your pump may be higher. A safer bet wouyld be to replace the stock pump with a Walbro unit.

thanks for the feedback guys.

yes, it's a DRY system. I just want to make sure my current fuel system is capable of handling the new Combo. A few people I have spoken to seem to think I'll be fine. I do plan on upgrading the pump eventually.
