stroke or not to stroke

If you're happy with your current power level, go with the forged rods and crank and spray away or save up for a procharger and get some truck heads.
Another cheap way to go instead of the LS6 crate motor is the forged 370 from TSP (or any other sponsor). Right now they're selling for $2,999.00, that way you get a couple extra cubes and you can still spray if you want to.

FWIW, if your going to buy a rotating assembly then you may as well buy a block and do a 408. Shop around, many of the site sponsors offer good short block strokers for a good price.

If you just forge you 347, you can spray the **** out of it.
Heads, cam and bolt ons will get you 450whp/410tq give or take, on motor, then you could spray it to get the 600/600
If you don't have the money, do the FULL bottom end, and a cam, worry about the heads later. Your in Florida, your car will love it.

I would want you to know that strokers are expensive and in my 408 build I had oveer 4200 in the short block assembled with cam and pushrods, then probabley put another 2000 or more in it with Fast Intake, Lifters, Gasket Kit, Injectors, etc. Compression 11.5 to 1.
HP N/A was 530 TRQ 479 Then I 150 Shot was added. and it was in the 650 Range.
I then decided I wanted a supercharger, I built my Forged 347 for about 3 Thousand. And I now had a Supercharged 347 off the bottle putting down 630 hp on a Street Tune. I thought to my self, why do I need a stroker??? I can make just as much HP with a 347 and a Supercharger as my 408 did on the bottle. I saved about 3 dollars and had a faster car.
Dont get me wrong I like both builds. But people are telling you to waste your money on a stroker and you dont need to do it. I put down 770 on a 150 Shotwith my 347 S/C w/ Nitrous. That is enough HP for about anyone on here to enjoy at the track.
The best advice is listen to people who have already done this. 347's make insane power and will save you a lot of money. There are atleast 5 people in my own state I know putting over 700 RWHP down on Forged 347 S/C Applications. Some even in the 800 hp.
Look at the Fquick or the Sig or PM me and I will give you build sheets on both of the engines and there price sheets and power they put down.
O and stock heads.

For the money you would spend on a 4" crank to make a 383, you could find a set of nice used heads.
A 6.0 truck motor is a 4" bore, which will breath better than the 3.9" LS1 once you get decent heads.

Whats the cost of that s/c setup and fuel system?
You can make great power with FI, but don't forget to add that in when your comparing costs.
If you want 500 n/a go with the stroker. If you plan on going FI than the 347 will be fine but then the cost of the FI is going to add up anyway.
