Looking For Reliable Sleeper H/C Set-up
#21
I'm running 62cc AFR's with a cometic 0.040" head gasket for about 11.3:1 on 91 octane with zero knock. When you say emissions friendly do you have to pass an exhaust sniffer up there? If so that's going to limit some of the above recommendations.

My only concern with the LS6 heads is that the exhaust ports won't match up with my LG headers that are design for a 97-00 vette. If I get port and polish job done on a pair of stock LS6 heads, is it possible to machine the exhaust port to match up with my headers? I like the TR Cheatr cam but I'm worried about clearance betweem the pistons and valves, being that it's specs are 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA. Can I just throw it in and not worry about it or should I just keep looking?
True, but I don't want my car to attract cops like flies on sh*t. I just don't want the average joe to know that my car has been head/cammed in anyway.

The 243 heads have a D-port exhaust vs the round port on your stock heads. They don't make headers that have a D-shaped runner at the flange AFAIK. You're not going to hurt power at all by running a round primary bolted to the D-port of your LS6 head.

Yup I do have an exhaust sniffer test up there.

ive never heard of anyone having PTV clearence with that cam. My cam is a whole hell of a lot bigger on probably the most aggresive lobes out there and i didnt have to cut.

When you say sleeper do you mean staying with stock casting #'s & a cam that idles bone stock, or do you mean a combo that drives super nice & makes good power.

my car runs pretty much like stock (mods in sig) you can going even bigger and in the end it all comes down to the tune. for a budget build something like texas speed 228r with 243s would make decent power and still drive fine
