I am putting a rollmaster chain on my ls1 and there is no play in the chain. It does not feel really tight but i thought there should always be some play there? Also there is no end play but the cam does turn, I am thinking of sanding down the camshaft retainer plate to get the minimum .001. Does this sound o.k. ?

 

Any body else who installed a rollmaster timing chain, is this normal for there to be no play in a new chain?

 

What do you mean by tight ? No slack is a good thing
