Default '04 LS6 head bolt torque specs???

Now all the LS1 head swaps I have previously done have been on pre '04 blocks with the (2) different size head bolts {aka design #1} (~101mm for the short bolts and ~155mm for the long bolts). For the torque sequence it says torque all to 22 ft/lbs and then turn bolts 1-10 90 degrees. Then for bolts 1-8 turn them an additional 90 degrees and for bolts 9 & 10 turn them an additional 50 degrees.

Now for my question. For a '04 LS6 block which uses the design 2 head bolts (all short bolts, only one size ~100mm)...do you do the same torque sequence for the design 1 head short head bolts? (22 ft/lbs - 90 degrees - 50 degrees) for all the head bolts?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

One more question. We already have 4 of the short bolts that came with the pre'04 bolt kit. The dealership lists the short bolts from the design 1 kit and the bolts in the design 2 bolt kit under different part numbers but lists them both as the same length...are they the same bolts? So can we just pick up the 16 remaining bolts for the design 2 and use the 4 existing short bolts from design 1 that we already have and use them together?

Just get a whole kit that matches. Bolts could be from different manufacturers and have slight variety. You'll get a whole kit cheaper at a sponsor than a stealership.

It's not 50 degrees on the 3rd step when all bolts are the newer Gen-IV style "medium" length.

Step 1: 22lb ft
Step 2: 90 degrees
Step 3: 70 degrees

That is GM specs on LS2, LS3, LS7 and everything else with the "medium" bolts. I do about 3 a week with that spec.

So the '04 LS1 "design 2" bolts are the same thing as the Gen IV medium length bolts? Do you know the part number by chance?
So one person a 2' breaker bar is enough to get the last 70 degrees? Ever snap a bolt?

Same bolts, no idea on part numbers but if I come across it I will add it to this thread.

I do them with an electronic torque angle wrench (Snap-on) by myself, I'd guess it is closer to 3ft though. The tough ones are the ones I have to use my left hand to torque with (drivers side in the car). Been working on LS motors for about 10 years, I see people break bolts, have no clue how but never seen one firsthand break.

I attached the LS2 torque specs.

Dude. The guy that just gave you those specs, builds LS1's at one of the largest LSX shops in the entire country. There's no need for confirmation.
