I forgot the plugs, the plug wires, the fuel rails, the fuel injectors, the SS braided hoses and ends for the fuel rails, the fuel pressure regulator, Orings for the AC system, Transmition oil cooler and hoses, Freon for the AC, waistgate, blowoff valve, paying someone to tune it, 2 NGK WB's on the car, and 2 EGT sensors for tuning (I personaly tune my own stuff with the $650 HP tuners, not to mention the last 4 years I spent learning to tune my car) and not to mention my labor all summer long putting this project together.

I am long winded, but my point is I am not some kid pulling a total cost out of my a$$. Maybe you did not intend to insult me with your response. I am not some kid throwing a number out here. This is what it cost me and that is what you asked in your OP, "real world numbers", here they are.

I greatly appreciate the info. The cost of your rotating assembly is much hirer than the whole kit from Texas speed. I see all of your add ons and that is my main concern. Just a few Assemble Engine $980, Port Cyl. Heads $700,Dampener $229.

I didn't mean to insult you but for my build your numbers seem high. Again I am looking for these horror stories(or just high dollar builds) to know what the worst case scenario is.Good luck on getting yours done. Sure hope it is fast as hell.

Yeh, I went all out on this build. Take out what you do not plan to do and you should have some good real numbers.

The $20,000 was for a 427 not a 408. **** Texas has a turbo charged 408 for much less than that. Well most of one so far.

For 20k can I can put you into a 460 with All Pro heads on top... but it all comes down to what your doing as well... we have a solid roller 408, the short block alone is $6800 and by the time you get done with the whole engine your close to 20k so it comes down to application

I spent money on stuff that was not needed, like the Moroso oil pan kit, labor, I could have run the stock dampner (harmonic Balancer), I did not need the heads ported with the turbo but you probably would want to do that for a NA build. Running NA you probly do not need to change main cap bolts. You can shave some more off that price if you run your old water pump, starter, alternator, fuel rails and what not.

I like the idea of the $3900 427 short block. But I would think you would need to run LS3/L92 heads at least with that much CI. Sell the 6.0L heads and get a nice set of LS3/L92 heads from Scoggin Dickey for around $700, then buy a Fast 92/92 Intake/TB for around $1300. Now you are up to say $6000. Then get your injectors, Head Gaskets, Rocker arms. I still think it will take $8000 to get all you need including Fuel rails and injectors.

I would go this route, use our 427 iron block
Use our LS3 top end kit
Get a decent cam and springs for it we use Isky most of the time. Some pushrods, our upgraded lifters and a new oil pump for $1113. Transfer your covers, get retuned, have fun!!!!
SO, you would be looking at around $6850 shipped for an engine that will make close to 475 RWHP!!!!
