It would be hard to boost on this budget but you could do a 427 LS2 from erl for 4500, Ported L92's 1500, Fast 102/102 1300, custom cam 400. With some left over for some gas on special occasions.

Yeah, boost would be fun, but that will be later on down the road, it's just not in the cards... I'm budgeting myself 7 to 9 grand, I could go higher a bit, but I'm just trying to keep cost down a bit lol.

I'm mainly concentrating on the motor here, the trans is going to get built and i have a monster stage III in it that is very much new (only like 4 passes on the strip before the 10 bolt took a ****). The rear end is already budgeted into the entire cost as is the tranny, so this is just my budget for sups/motor. Keep 'em comin guys! I'm feelin a 383 right at this moment, just because I'd be able to reuse my stock block, and still make good power, especially with some n2o.

hmmmmmm......i would go with :

-Livernios Motorsports Stg. III LS6 Heads
-42 lbs SVO's
-G5x2 LG Motorsport Cam
-SS 4000 Yank
-FAST Intake 92 / 92 NW TB
-Strange 12 with 3.42
-TunedbyFrost and Dynoed
-maybe a nice set of Bogarts
-UMI Kemember and Lower A-Arms

and bank the rest you see, my whole angle would be a streetable as possible and able to still run at least very low 11's or even high 10's and driveability to take the lady out to dinner or whatever. but thats just me.

Good luck to you on whatever you do.

PRC 215's
Custom Comp grind 236/240 609/603 111+2
Supporting Mods ( 4.10's, 3" free flowing cat back or preferably T/D's as in TSP's, SSRA or 85mm MAF and FTRA lid, fuel pump, lines and rails, #36 injectors.)
ARH Headers and OR/Y
Level 2 ported 92 Fast and TB combo
BMR K-member, drag bar, LCA's, QA1's
CCW drag pack with 315 Nitto D/R's out back

That should be good for mid 11's with a good rear end and tranny so that you can get a good launch. You said you had budgeted a rear end and tranny so I think you can get low 11's maybe high 10's with a really good '60 and still be streetable with a good tuner. Throw some forged rods and pistons at it one day and spray a 200 shot on top of it and get into the 9's!!!

To me a nasty street setup car is a mid to low 9 second car the wife can drive to get groceries on 91 octane .. n/a .. anyone can run a s/c or turbo or nitrous to make power. The true test is n/a

In your budget I'd do a 383 with supporting mods and some suspension work.

An engine is only as good (powerful) as the top end you put on it. Buying a 408 and put avg heads and your not making over 500 rwhp. IF your not making over 500 rwhp why go 408? Why not save money and use it elsewhere.

A 408 longblock would be about 9k with decent heads on top

You need to set some goals... nasty street strip car is to vague. How much rwhp are you looking for? How fast do you want to run in the 1/4 or are you just looking for a highway roller.

Many things to think about to build your car the way you want it. 7-9 k is a bit of money but can run out very quick and leave you with a slow car if not done right. Need a power goal.

I agree but instead of a new camaro I would put the money down on a 06-08 c6 vette leanining more towards the LS3.

Blanco- I always look forward to your posts, you've got a good head on your shoulders!
My power goal for the car is 500-600ish for now, I just want something I can go run low 11s high 10s (easier said than done in abq, elevation KILLS N/A motors) and can still be very streetable.

Guys that are throwin in tranny/rear ends/exhaust, I'm not too concerned with that right now, the car is getting a 9", the tranny is good for now, the car already has full exhaust/Long tubes. I'm thinking a 383 with a good top end and some nitrous will meet this goal very easily, but I love hearing what you guys have to say and what you would do. I'm always up for fresh ideas, and there's no shortage of them on LS1tech! Thanks guys, keep it comin, I'm lovin this thread!

Rod end LCA & PHB 250$
TQ arm 450$
QA1 up front 600$
CNC l92's 1500$
custom cam 350$
lifters 150$
head gaskets 50$
headbolts 50$
408 short block 4,000$
Vic jr./rails/4150tb 900$
injectors 250$

Total 8,550$ money left to go towards a decent Nitrous setup

your still going to need some misc. nickle and dime stuff but you get the idea. if you shop around for deals and look in the classifides you can probably build this combo for around this or less.

Hey brotha, always good to see someone else from the 505. I've only had the car since December. You probably haven't seen it much, it's been down since march. I'm doing my build over at solid tech, sean and jason are close friends (lived with jason for over a year) and so I trust them to handle the car while i'm out here in iraq. pm me if you want more info mang.

I'm not going to type up a list but I would do an iron block 408 and spray it.

imo go with a forged iron 427 shortblock from schwanke engines, 3499.00. Get a set of
l92 heads(600.00), they flow over .300 stock, pick up a l76 intake, and a custom cam. Should make a solid 500whp with tq and hp all over the place.
