Dry sump takes the oil that sits in the pan out of the equation. Think about what turbulence a fan produces, now think of what a 52lbs crankshaft spinning 6500rpm (basically a fan) does to the oil sitting in the pan that is trying to reach the the pickup. The crank slings oil every where. When you remove this pooling of oil from the pan it reduces "windage" (sloshed and slung oil) from the engine normally freeing up some horsepower. Now you plumb a line to the pan to remove that oil, you need a pump driven usually off the front crank to pump the oil into a the "dry sump" where the oil supply is held, and then pumped back into the engine. Alot of hoses everywhere and quite exspensive but it frees up 15-35hp usually depending on how bad the windage was. Porsche use this type of system. Also side not you must check the oil level with the engine running, as when the engine isn't running the oil is sitting in the dry sump and the dipstick (which is in the dry sump) would tell you that you overfilled the tank. All of this is off topic but it answers the gentlemans question.

LS7 = 7.0L, 6.4L didn't make the grade...

You may see that other motor in another platform...

the more i think about it and look at these parts, and gminsidenews hints the trucks will have 6.2's.

the bolt pattern on the ls2 is the same because it has ls6 heads on it

if the link doesn't work, go to google and search: GM Concept v-10
Try that link with the info on the V10 project.

The colorodo is a over head cam engine. Thats what makes me believe that that 5 port head is from that new project.
