Sorry meant trunion...Well my engine is pretty much done and waiting on installing these monday. I decided to open the box and use a press to put them in. First they got here a little later then I planned which is ok. But I open the box that is wrapped from factory in plastic and there are "3" bearings missing. I checked paper and everything. So I decided to press the others in and see how I can obtain these other 3.. All other parts were there and I will say they are easy to press in. No problems there, the fitment is nice and the clips lock them in.. I do recommend this upgrade, just venting as Im sure it means more time down for the car till I can obtain more. I emailed my sponsor to see if they can help even though its Comps issue. Hopefully they will send me 3 and then deal with Comp. Keep you updated.

 

I just got mine in the other day. Luckily everything was there. That's crazy how Comp missed the missing bearings as they come on a clear plastic tray wrapped in a clear plastic bag. It would be easy for them to see if any were missing. Also I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone. The comp kit is of excellent quality and I feel at ease about my rocker arm bearings now. With my new set up I didn't want to risk anything that may hurt the motor.

 

my tray wasnt wrapped in anything?? you meant tray with bearing right?? My box contained bearing trays, bag twisted and folded over with trunion, bag of c clips, no instructions or info nothing.. What about yours, very strange stuff is missing. My luck has been running thin lately on this build..

But still I like the look and feel of the finished product and the added safety for the buck is great!!

 

yeah, the bearings were all alined in a clear plastic tray then wrapped in a clear plastic bag. then everything else was wrapped in its own baggy. Also mine didn't come with any instuctions either. It's not too hard to figure out if you know what your doing but for the majority a nice sheet of instructions would be very nice. Heck just a diagram of how to press out the old bearings and an exploded diagram of the new set up would have been plus.

 

I made the actual jig for them according to there chart.. My bearing werent wrapped at all thats nuts.. Something isnt right here. Weird cause the whole black box itself was celephaned..

 

Chart? what chart? Yours came with a chart?

 

Someone on another thread posted this up. It shows the depth on the last page to make as sturdy holder while pressing, also controls depth. I made it to make sure there would be no problems.

Just an update. Speed Inc. stepped up and had Comp Cams send me some FedEx the next day. Just recieved the shortage and to my suprise there was even extras. I was missing only 3 bearings. They sent 3 whole new rocker setups. 6 bearings, 6clips, 3 trunion.. Always great to have a back up.

Using the Comp instructions is a really good idea. Notice that they want the bearings oriented with the lettering on the bearings facing outward on both sides. Y'all who didn't use the instructions did it this way, right?

My take is that the kit was designed for engine builders who can make the correct tools to seat the bearings to the correct depth. If you don't seat them to the correct depth and things bind up or vice versa, you are on your own. Of course you are on your own anyway with aftermarket parts you install.

I felt much better using the instructions. I made there little jig, and it seated the bearings perfect. No problems here. Im my eyes best bang for buck
