ls1 heads: worth porting?
Ok, im doing a budget buildup and im thinking about going the route of using 241's.
A local porter was asking me Q's about porting them, he wanted to know how much material there is that can be easily removed.
he basically will trade me my heads off my car, for a set im going to buy and he will port.
also i was wondering what i could have the heads shaved to. and what would the compression ratio be. (dont want to flycut)
i have an mti x1 cam 232/228 595/572@112 full bolt ons, !cats, ported tb, ls6 intake.
how hard is it to get 15-20 more cfm out of them.

If that guy needs to know that info, then he has no exp working w/ LSx heads. That would have me worried.
All I can say is you could find prob a cheap set of LS6 heads and that may help you a little more, from what I have seen a correctly done set of heads often do not have that much of a change in CFM across the range.
