Uh, yeah. You might be able to salvage some things now. If you continue to push it with what sounds like a partially failed piston or rod you could end up destroying damn near everything.

A little smoke is a harbinger of doom. It always turns into a lot of smoke and fascinating noises. It never fixes itself.
