Is there any way to prine these Engines besides Pulling the Ignition & Injector Fuses and turning it over with the Starter till the Gauge moves?

 

there is a plug on the drivers side front of engine you can remove then use a hand pump to force oil through the engine but the way you described works and is fast

 

Is that the one that is a Hex Plug right behind the Alternator..well in that area?

 

Tried and true way works best. Or get that drill extension to plug in where the distributor goes

 

I bet someone will ask, where is the distributor hole is at....

 

^^Lol I've seen LS Engines with Distrubutors..

 

I was leary about the crank to prime too. It did work well for my 383 though. I did a couple 10-20 second bursts and my pressure got up to about 15-20psi. I didn't do it for more than a couple minutes total. Plugged in the fuses and it fired right up with about 60 psi cold.

 

That's what I was plannin on doing..crank it over right before I put in the Plugs, then put them in and fire it up.

 

It will turn over effortlessly with out the plugs in. Did you dump any oil on the valve train before you put the rocker covers on?
