Default Manifolds

Hey,

My first post.

I have a 2004 GTO. I bought a dealership managers car with 9000 miles on it from a dealership 12/04 as new...cheap. I titled it. 2005's were out. Its the LS1 version with the 350...347. 5.7L

Anyhow. I took the top of the engine off. To my suprise there is a LS6 type valley cover..has the baffles and vents from the valley..and the valve covers.

Question.
I have looked and searched. How do I know if I have ls1 manifold or a LS6 maifold.
It has gauze filters under it.
I know its LS1 241 heads. Cant say what valves yet either. That will be monday when my parts get here from Thunder racing. One being thier valve spring tool.
Thoughts?
I wonder if this is why some GTO owners have oil blow by problems and others don't.

part number cast on the side of the manifold...type it into the search function on here or google it and you'll know ....or post it and what for someone to reply that knows.

OR...look at the bottom of the manifold, if it's flat all the way across, it's a LS6. If it's flat with a round hump running down the middle, LS1.

I tried the search on google first. No returns on the part number.
Searched here but gave up on getting through it all.

Anyhow, it is indeed a LS6 intake manifold. Flat bottom.
Glad I did not buy a ls6 manifold..... almost did

Now I am searching gaskets. I ordered all the gaskets for a LS1 intake.
They will be here Monday from TR.

Welcome to chime in and tell me they are the same or different. I will continue to look.

01 and up ALL LS1's have LS6 IM but not 243 heads as you have already found out...

It is not "blow by" if we are on the same page but oil being sucked up and burned through the PCV system. Search PCV in external and there is a nights worth of reading there... Search catch can and LS6 PCV conversion for possible cures....

Thanks for the pictures.
Also did not know all LS1' from 2001 up had the LS6 IM.

I do not what you mean by same page. I suspect we are.
I raced back in the 70's. We called it blow by.
Somehwhere in the 80's the EPA decided venting that gases into the atmosphere was a bad thing.
Thus many different PCV systems were developed to route the gasses back into the combustion chamber...I know you all know this, I am explaining my use of the term blow by.

I think the first thing I did was catch that blow by. Home depot remedy until the aftermarket answered.

My first post here. A valid question. I know how to search and there is plenty of info. Testing the waters here. Good info.
Thank you.
