Well, I pressurized the cylinder and it seems to be holding, if I had a bent valve the air leaking out would be obvious right?

With the new spring should be up and running

Yes, leaking air would either be coming from the throttle body or the exaust. Usaully better to use a gauge, but you should have nothing to worry about.

If you break a spring, please don't drive it, the inner spring is only there to hold the valve up and prevent P/V damage. I had the same problem w/5k miles on my springs, if you have the old ones, probably should replace them.
I need to get the replaced old ones off of my car asap, well, once it's fixed =\, but I still have them on there with the cleared rockers. Still worried about them tho.

Another example of Terry and Partiot standing behind what they sell. I installed a set of their stage 2 5.3 heads on a friend'd car and the engine burned oil, smoking out the tailpipe at idle. All tests indicated valve seal problems.

Terry was helpful in both providing new seals and getting them installed. Not to say their product is faulty, but the law of avereges says if you sell hundereds of a particular item, there will be a few that will have problems.

The new seals fixed the problem, the car is now 100% and there's a lot to be said for Patriot's customer service.

I have to ask this, and that is....what about the cost for labor for replacing the old springs (for those who don't know how to do it)? Will Patriot pay for all or part of the cost of labor?

If you can change your own spark plugs, then you can change out your valve springs. It should only take about 2-3 hours max. to change all 16. If you don't know how, then learn. that is what this forum is all about, getting your hands dirty and learning about YOUR car. I don't know of any performance part from anyone with a warranty that covers labor.

true on the labor...i'm just wondering if there is a known defect with these springs that were shipped on the older batch of heads.

i can understand if one or two people get a defect and have to pay the labor cost, thus the risk of buying high performance parts.....but if many people are having problems, then i'd like to know if there will be any support for the cost of labor from the company?

and no, i probably wouldn't want to change the springs myself.

if anyone needs help with labor my buddy and I have devised a slick little tool that makes changing the springs MUCH MUCH easier than the tool More Performance sells for $129. We'd sell it for $25 for anyone that may need it. Also if your anywhere near Asheville , NC come on over and I'll change the springs out for ya for free, only on Terry's heads tho
