Plug indexing???
I always do it. Why make mods to a car if you're not gonna follow through w/ every aspect? Also, why would someone not want the most effecient combustion possible? If you decide to do it, index a little more toward the intake valve side.

Don't waste your time. Lots of old small block tricks do not work or do very very little on LS motors.

We have to do this on our 565 b/c the clearance is so tight between the piston dome and cylinder head.
Is it worth doing? Sure, if you have a few hours/$$$ to waste for a couple boxes of plugs or indexing washers to get .25 HP.
Bottom line, I would do it unless your pushing 700+HP.
My opinion.
Buy indexing washers from a sponsor like Summit Racing. No need to buy extra plugs. The washers will allow you to get any plug in the correct rotation, facing the desired area. You want the elbow side (back side) of the ground strap to face away from the combustion chamber. The open area between the electrode & ground strap face the combustion chamber; prefferably a little more toward the intake valve side.
I never knew if it actually made any difference or not.
If it would work on a SBC why wouldn't it work on a LS1?
