Just curious - you say ARP. Can you still pull the heads on a motor that has APR studs installed while the motor is still in the car? Is there enough room to clear the studs?

Yep, as stated they are in fact TTY bolts. Some people have re-used them but it's not suggested. You also have 2 options with ARP, studs or bolts. If you dont wanna mess with the studs, just buy the bolts. But yes, heads can be removed with studs installed.

DO NOT REUSE your old head bolts for any reason the GM ones are one time use only.
Just buy a set of APR studs or ARP bolts and call it a day.

That is a VERY VERY bad idea. You may snap a bolt the next time you go to take the heads off. You also dont have the right torque on you heads currently because of the bolt stretch.

DON'T reuse your factory headbolts like bigboykilroy said. At the very less, purchase a new factory head bolt kit (one kit per head) from your GM dealer or summit racing. They run about $25 per set. part number GM - 12498545.

And that was helpful how???? The thread was regarding HEAD BOLTS, not connecting rod bolts.

Plus, nice resurrection of an old thread for no good reason....derr.....

Lol, derr.... made me laugh, and the link is wrong. Sure TTY bolts can be reused soemtimes. Get out a bolt stretch gauge and check them. The link says only replace if damaged.
