You will need Double valve springs for sure for an ms3. YES, it is entirely necessary to change the timing chain and the oil pump is a must ESPICIALLY with higher miles. Will your car function with the stock pump & chain ....yes. The timing chain and new oil pump are very cheap insurance. Just think when your chain breaks or your pump suddenly dies you will probably be in need of a new motor.

Driving a cammed daily driver car is all in the tune and the driver. I have a 275THR7 Thumper cam in my 99 SS and i love it. it is going to be alot more rough with a big cam but thats just something you have to expect. but other than having a choppy idle and some what rough ride its still a easy daily driver. ive drivin this car 3 hours to the beach with no problems. just make sure you get good coolants.

Congrats on popping your cherry. You just did a rookie move and replied to a damn near 4 year old thread.

**** happens.
IMO, MS3 requires plenty supporting mods to work well in a 346cid. There is simply no need for such big stick. (in daily operations).
If you want your car to lope, huge durations are not necessary, overlap is. Smaller lobes, tight LSA will bring the powerband into useable range and give the desired shake and bake effect.

Not to mention Comp recommends against using it as a street cam. But hey what do they know.

Just for experimentation I would love to get a bone stock car and put the biggest monster cam (like the Texas speed giant 248/254) that's available in it just for fun...the tuner would prob really appreciate it lol...would be Be even better to put in a 4.8l...
