I got an 03 Zo6 cam and heads and put it on after I had stock heads and the cam in sig (haven't had time to update) and although the sig cam was bigger, the ls6 cam/heads were so much better matched that the car ran A LOT better, and faster (and no, it was NOT my imagination).
Get the cam, and if you can find a cheap set of 243 heads get them and put them on. The tuning will be much easier (stock Zo6 flash) and it will idle/drive like stock because it IS stock - just from a better car.
If you get a cam that's 'too small' according to some, you will never know the difference and enjoy it. But if you get a cam that's too big for your needs, then you will notice it immediately and be very ... grumpy ...

I was mistaken about the heads, they are 241's, but I do have the LS6 intake. I'm thinking that a decently priced set of 243 heads and the LS6 cam is the way I want to go based on all the feedback. I have an old 440 6pak mopar for a hotrod and you can count everytime it fires, I dont want that on the TA. Thanks again for all the input. I'll update later on this winter once I can do the swap.

I swapped my factory ls6 cam for a tr224, and I am getting better mileage. That could be due to my driving style, and how the z06 is geared. The lope/shake over the ls6 cam is not really noticeable, but the exhaust note sounds 200% better.
On a side note....I have a 71 r/t challenger. I didn't think there were any other mopar guys blasphemous enough to own an ls car

What kind of tuning did you have to do for the TR224? Thats my biggest concern with going to a slightly larger cam over a stock performance cam like the ZO6. I can send my ECM off to the lower 48 for a reflash, if I can find a place to do it.
My Dodge is a '70. Took about 4 years to restore and a lot of cash. ITs a blast to drive, it'll pass everythign but a gas station. I like the '71's as well, neat looking grill in those. Pm me some pics.

Went with take off ls6 parts and my results are in my sig. Full weight car, no tricks.. just drove it to the track on the stock ss wheels with nitto dr's, knocked out an 11 second pass and drove home. My car only has 35k miles on it and it also has a fast 78mm manifold, if those are factors or not I couldn't say for sure.

Quick update, I've swapped out for a set of 243 heads, double roller timing setup, new oil pump, LS6 valley cover, and I thought I had an LS6 cam, but now I've found out I got screwed. I hope to find an '02+ LS6 cam, if not, then I'm looking hard at the TR224 114LSA. More info to follow...........................

I'm sure most that are telling you it is a waste of time and money (ls6 parts are cheap, so I don't see this arguement) have not done it themselves so just think about that before their opinion weighs too heavy on you. I swapped over my ls6 cam and springs, hell even the push rods (I know they are the same length, they just had less miles and were just sitting there) and I love it. Best of all it cost me NOTHING other than gaskets and crank bolt. I used the money I saved up put in a new timing chain and get a good oil pump. Seems to have a little more pull up top and gets the same fuel mileage and it sounds exactly the same (accept when I cranked it the first time after the battery was disconnect, it loped like hell, i thought i left a plug wire off or something, but it cleared up in like 30 secs.). Another good aspect, just put on some ls6 springs and get some ls7 lifters if you are taking the heads off and your valvetrain should last you the life of the motor.
If I had it to do again I would do it in a heart beat. Could just be because I am one of those who like modding cars just to be turning wrenches. I liked doing the cam swap, it was fun. Do the ls6 cam, from what you are looking to get out of it, it looks like you won't regret it. I don't.

My buddy with a 02 M6 ws6 put the ls6 cam in his car and complains to me every single day when i see him at the gym. His car dyno'd 330 with that cam and full boltons. The hours doing the swap is not going to be worth the 6.5HP your going to pick up. Im putting a cam in his car in the spring.
