Any one used: ISKY 280/290 540/530 LS Cam
Looking at using the ISKY 280/290 540/530 lift cam in an otherwise stock LS6.
This would be for a mild LS road race motor in 2800 pound car.
Will this have needed clearance with stock short block?
I have the ASA hot cam but looking for something just a bit more.
Anyone have experience with the ISKY?

280/290? thats not duration at .050 right? whats duration at .050?
no i havent had any experience with it but isky has been big in cams for a long time. and at 530 lift, its nat pushing 'mild' for an ls1 car.
post up a link and more info on the cam. also specs on the asa hot cam. also...look in the dyno section to see some cams (and hear) and what kind of power they are making. as far as im concerned the hot cam kits are a pretty mellow upgrade.
definately do some homework.

isky also known in the 1980's as (iskendarian) i think i spelled that right?if im wrong someone chime in..isky has been around along time and ive used them in the 80's with great results!back in those days they didnt have dual pattern or reverse pattern cams as they do now for boost or nitrous..they been around along time and have good power combined with the right stuff..i would go for it,isky is a good cam maker..you should call them and see what they can do with a custom grind? atleast you wont have a off the shelf cam that everyone else got..

280/290 is their advertised duration and what they also call the cam.
.050 duration is something like 230/232 with 112.
the ASA cam is 525/525 226/236 110 and works pretty well as a road race cam in the ex ASA Delco Stock Cars that are now running in SCCA GTA and
V8 StockCar. I was looking for just a bit more to slide into a stock short block.
LS6 motor is now carbureted.
I called ISKY but the tech I got said he didn't have a lot of experience with LS motors and didn't want to offer an opinion. He said I could call back later and talk to someone else.
thanks
