Default PTV clearance on dished pistons

Is PTV clearance something I really have to worry about when using dished pistons? I feel like this wouldn't be a problem because the valves would have plenty of room since material is removed for the dish. Am I mistaken in this? Thanks!

99 percent of the time you will be fine with dished pistons. It would never hurt to check with some strips of clay though.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about with dished pistons. There is a lot of room there, but as stated, you might want to check if it concerns you.

Even with our largest dished pistons, we still have valve pockets. It's true that much of the pocket is effectively "erased" by dish depth, but a slice of the valve pockets is seen in the .400" or so of perimeter material surrounding the dish. The valve could dig in at the corner depending on cam duration and valve drop. -Brian Nutter -Wiseco Automotive.
