if you want you can just remove the oil filter and cut it open.

one way u can tell if its ticking and its a rod bearing .. the motor tends to tremble alot and studders to stay on ..if its the lifters with no oil its just ticking and everything else seems fine..

the car idle was normal if the car didint have a gauge and i was def ,i wouldnt see or feel a differance on how the SS drove,,,i did remove the oil filter today and there was no signes of any shavings , it was a lil watery not as thick as it should be ,,,was 1000 miles over due ,but the SS was driven easy not hard

if u have the tools pull the motor out... unless u want to struggle with the oil pump with the motor in the car.. once its out replace the lifters...ull have to put new gaskets and bolts which should stop the passing of water if there is any..good luck man
