Default My new Cam??

Ok, this is my first LS1 and I bought the motor not long ago... I am going to swap it into my 3rd gen '91 Camaro. The deal is that I have never dealt with this motor before. I have talked to a few people on the matter and I now have a cam and I am curious of your opinions as to the results. The motor is from a 2000 SS... Specs are 221/227 561/569 on a 114lsa. I am running an A4. Everything else is stock at the moment besides spings and pushrods. I may have my heads done depending on funds.

Any other comments and recommendations for this motor would be appriciated.

what grind is that, comps? also what other mods do you have or are planning to have within a relative soon time. i dont know how headers factor into the the 3rd gen swap but you'll want some LT's if they'll fit, or at least some macs. a cam that size is kinda pointless without supporting bolt ons. that'll be a good cam if you ever plan some FI or n2o.

here's a thread with some 3rd Gen and header info.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/100846-any-ls1-lt-headers-fit-3rd-gen-w-aftermarket-k-member.html

until a new K member comes out your pretty much stuck with shorties or manifolds.

As for the cam I think it will work pretty well with the exhaust you'll be forced to run.

224/228 XE-R on say a 113 LSA with heads would be better with manifolds, ported manifolds or shorties.

Yes the cam is Comp. My springs are also Comp 918 blue stripe springs. The motor itself has 20k on it. At this point I am just gonna update the rod bolts to ARP and I am gonna update to 2002+ piston rings and the cam swap. I have a buddy that would port and polish my heads but if I do that or not depends on if I can afford it when the time comes. My exhaust will all be aftermarket yes, and I dont know about what headers yet, I havent done extensive research into that yet. TB to Intake mani is all stock. I am going AC delete for now as well. I dont feel the need to cut my crossmember at the moment. I have t-tops.

99 Black Bird, do you happen to have any pictures of your swap or the project? Its good to be able to talk to someone with experience that has done this swap. What did you do about the wiring harness and all that "fun" wiring I should look forward to? How long did it take you to get it all wired up? What features will I have and what will I loose from the wiring work?

Cam sounds alright but maybe you should look at the TR224 112LSA, its a great all around cam, you will probally have to have the headers custom made, I have heard that LS1 headers don't cooperate with 3rd gens. Good Luck
