Default What Sensor is this in Oil Pan

Just curious, but what sensor is this?
Of course I dropped the oil pick-up tube screw in the oil pan, and am curious if this can be taken out to gain access to the inside of oil pan?
Probably not because I have not read about it anywhere, but who knows, its late, so enlighten me, looks like is will unscrew with a pretty good sized wrench??

Great photo file too big to upload....but its a big sensor on the pasenger side of the oil pan behind the K member, kinda whitish/yellowish color, pretty accessible, you can't miss it, any ideas?

yup oil level sensor, its like a float type assembly i wouldent touch it. i would say it has to be on your magnetic drain bolt its a little 6mm bolt it will easily go though the big drain hole, dump oil through the front of the oil pan where the oil pump is exposed to try and get the bolt to go down by the magnet

Good stuff, NOTE to self, do not touch this sensor.....I have tried with a magnet thingy, but not quite sure where the screw is at...I like the trick idea above, I will try that next if the magnet thing will not work, havent spent alot of time on it, but trying to explore options before I spend all day with this. Thanks guys

FYI next time put a rag in the front of the oil pan to catch it if you drop it ... or you can tie a thread to the bolt so that you can pull it out of the pan if you drop it.

Funny you say that cause I did have a rag in there but then took it out so I could get my hand in there to put the screw back in, damn tight spot.
If I lower the K to get the screw out of the pan, I am installing the screw first then rebolting the pan back up, lets pray I dont have to lower the K though.

Another thing I found useful was using a piece of mechanics wire wrapped around the bolt close to the head. It makes it easier to hold straight up/down with the wire to start threading it in. Think I wrapped it around the bolt twice, and when I got it close to being all the way in, you can yank and the wire comes right off!

Also, if you dont already have them get some long regular screwdrivers to stick down each side of the oil pan after unbolting several of the front ones and loosen the back ones. Then the screwdrivers will help hold the pan down out of the way to give you a little more room.

Good luck man

Ha ha success tonight getting the screw...it didn't fall all the way back into the sump as I first thought, it got hung up around the pick up tube where it goes back up into the crank area.
I "fabbed" up a coat hanger with a small magnet attached to the end held on by some JB Weld....talk about handyman special, but it worked great in finding the screw. I also used it to install the screw by holding the screw by the head with the magnet, guiding it in the hole, and then the locktite kept it in position while I screwed it in. This beat any magnet extension I looked at at the autoparts stores, now I'm taking all the ones I bought back
