H/C/I bolts and Gaskets help
Ok Im ready to finish ordering the parts I need to get my car done. Ill be ordering Comp Hardend pushrods, Melling oil pump, LS2 timing chain and sprokets, LS7 lifters and trays, and some sort of gaskets and bolts...
Now what I need is help ordering the right bolts and gaskets for my H/C/I install. Heres what I have for parts:
Vengeance VRX3 cam
TSP stage 1 cnc ported LS6 heads with trick flow dual gold springs from Vengeance
LS6 Intake.
What all do I need?!? Is there any one kit that has it all somewhere?

i ordered all my gaskets and bolts from scoggin dickey. great prices and they arrived really fast. you will need new head gaskets, water pump gaskets, front cover seal and gasket, new head bolts, new intake manifold gaskets wouldnt be a bad idea either. oh make sure you get a new o-ring for your oil pump

It looks like the Oil pump comes with a new o-ring.
So Im not all that brilliant since Ive never takin my heads off yet but what is the difference between the head bolts and head studs?
I thought I read somewhere that the lengths of the bolts vary in different LS1s so how do I know what length mine are?

as far as i know all the ls1's are the same size bolt length. so just order them for your year car. as far as the differnece between studs and bolts. the studs will be good cause they are reusable as the threads stay in the block and you just remove the nut to get the heads off. also they are stronger then factory bolts as well.

I found this kit:

This has pretty much everything I need right?
Are the ARP bolts really worth an extra $120 over the GM bolts?

arp's can be reused, stockers are once and done. if the heads aren't gonna be coming off alot and the motor is NA i'd go with the stockers. just tell them what year block you have and they will get the right bolts. i believe the earlier blocks were long/short and the later were common length. not 100% sure though

It looks like pre 2004 ls1 blocks are the different length.
I really dont plan on having the heads off much at all lol
I am going to be running nitrous but I hardly ever use it. Im hardly ever at a track.

You should also buy a new harmonic balancer bolt. The stock GM bolt should only be used once. I got by reusing my original exhaust manifold gaskets and bolts when I swapped headers (at 133k miles). It's a gamble to re-use any gaskets, but if it isn't too hard to get to them it you can try it. I wouldn't re-use any gaskets that see oil though. I hate an oil leak.

haha Well its on my car now and has been on there for about a year. But where I live there are few fast cars and some not even worth spraying it on. All I ever see are Mustangs with exhaust only and one 383 stroked LT1 camaro. But I really dont race that often. Ive used my nitrous more just giving people rides than I have racing. Thats sad.
I do want to take it to a track after I get it all built up and tuned though. That should be fun! lol
P.S. That kit also comes with a balancer bolt. So far I think Ill be going with that. It seems to have everything.
