here are a couple to get you started.

From an interview with GM design folks: "The ’01 intake weighed 99 grams but the ’02 weighs only 76. The ’01 exhaust weighed 86 grams but the ’02 exhaust weighs 63 grams."

To handle the change, assistant chief engineer John Juriga and his crew added fortified valve springs and lightweight hollow-stem valves, a feature last seen on a Corvette in the late ZR-1's twin-cam LT5 V-8.

Can't trust that information then either, because the 1996-1997 LT4 (all 6 speed 1996 Corvette's and a few 1997 F-Bodies) had hollow intake valves and sodium filled exhaust valves...and the LT5 was built only until 1995...so the feature WAS seen after the LT5 vette.

Also, someone said "only the C5 ZO6" LS6 had these valves, again not true. The CTS-V was originally built with the LS6 as well, and it had hollow intake and sodium filled exhaust valves.

REGARDLESS, if the heads say 243 or 799, as has been said, the chambers and ports are the same, 799 is a newer replacement for the 243 but is for all intents and purposes the same (the type of casting might be different, there might be some strength differences, I don't know, but the ports and chambers are the same). If the heads came off an LS6, they have lighter valves (except maybe the original 2001 Z06...but I don't believe that either) and if they came off anything else, they don't.

You most likely won't ever be able to notice the difference in the weight of the valves in a street car, so I would do what was mentioned above, and try to find a set off an LS4 or some other high production engine (I believe newer truck 5.3's have 243's on them as well).

The Zo6 did not get the hollow valves until '02
It was part of the engineering in the '02 cam upgrade.

I believe the 799 heads are cast at a different factory ... maybe in Mexico
if I remember right. I think thats why they got a different casting number
assigned to them.

Some of the newer 5.3 trucks do have 799 heads and the Trailblazer SS intake.

BTW, if you go woth the Z06 valves, keep in mind they are a bit longer than other valves.
Also, hollow stem valves can cause an ussie if you ever run into valve float or any piston to valve contact. You have a much better chance of breaking the valve head off and dropping it into the cylinder than on a solid valve which will probably just bend.

And again, much like you'd probably never be able to tell the difference in a street car between the valves...if you're running a street car close enough to the edge of valve float, or close enough to having piston/valve interference problems...you're running on the ragged edge already anyways, so you should be ready to accept the risks that come with that.

The valves are actually more than 20% lighter than the LS1/LS2 & '01 LS6 valves. Which would be considered a bit more than
..a hair lighter...
