I hate to close this one. Was hoping the roasts would pile up and make me smile. Oh well…

Funny how back in 2003 there was a oil pump problem people were worried about. Since then all the ls motors run for a very long time and rarely is there a oil pump failure. The biggest problem is the o-ring and still a rare occasion.

@kingtone - 19 year old necro to respond with wrong information? 😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂
Definitely want to edit or delete that one!
FWIW - 😆 I posted in this thread 19 years ago! Time to update.
It was a bit worry some back in the day (1999 -2001) as several new/nearly new/low mileage LS1's had oil pump issues.
1) My 99 T/A got a Katech ported LS6 oil pump in 2002 when the car got heads & cam as insurance.
2) One of my friends bought a 2000 FireHawk with ~21,000 miles from Carmax in ~2001 and the LS1 oil pump was still enough of a concern he got an extended warranty. His car has 93,000 miles now and the original oil pump. He remarked that extended warranty I'd suggested proved a waste of money. I pointed out he'd had piece of mind plus a couple of extra years with a warranty.

my 98 ls1 had its original oil pump until 2 weeks ago, with 134000 miles on it, so its a bit subjective of "when" the oil pump will go out. I've had a turbo on top of the stock ls1 for almost 10 years, and I've had 2 transmissions before the engine had any failures.
