Wrong. I've seen 5.3's and 6.0's with the same problem get replaced at the dealer under warranty. I noticed after I did an oil consumption bulletin it had a slapping noise for a little while. That was after I let the injector cleaner sit in the cylinders for the recomended 3 hours. Assuming it washed all the walls clean and that's what I was hearing.

Like said before, GM has been having these problems forever. So why even bother making a big deal about it? I can understand if it's misfiring, poor performance, loud knocking, etc. But as long as it's not doing any of those things, just drive the damn thing

Sorry to bring back an old thread but could a timing controller cause piston slap? I set the timing back 4 degrees total but I haven't put in the br7ef's in yet so could this be my problem? It's never made the knocking sound before but the motor has 108,xxx miles.
