Default lifter and springs help

ok im buying with my xmas money a 228R cam. but i dont know which lifters or springs to get. i have heard stay away from the 918 springs but then others have said they work just fine. also im looking for new lifters that wont kick the **** outta my wallet. also if you could gimme some links to what your recommending that would really help me out. thanks

the car is my DD, its a ls1 with LT headers, lid, ls6 intake, and a cut out. i will eventually get a stall when more money comes my way. but again with that idea i've heard having a stall and it being ur DD is not a good idea. dunno but thats a diff. topic.

Old comp 918's used to break, but they redesigned them now and they are fine. I would use those or the PAC beehive springs.

LS7 lifters will work fine with your setup. They are about $130.

Just want to verify that you know the heads require removal for the lifter swap. Also, PAC 1218's or 1518's would be my first choice.

All good advice above. If you decide on the PAC's the 1518's are worth the extra $$$ because they are nitrided and will last longer than the 1218's. Any of the PP or PRC doubles will work well too but add a little extra valvetrain weight.

And you will be doing yourself a big favor by doing a stall first before dropping in a cam that size. Consider start collecting parts and installing all at once so you only have to have to tune once.....

that was true for a flat tappet cam, not true for lsx engines

That's a lot of miles. I would do the lifters and maybe clean up the heads while they are off and lap the valves back in. Nothing major, but a good clean with valve lapping and new valve seals.
