Default Is this a good trade

I have a guy wanting to trade me a set of port&polished 853 heads for my prostars. They are 64cc cumbustion chambers. 2.02 intake, 1.56 exhaust valves. Patriot Extreme valve springs. idk flow numbers yet though.

These heads would be replacing my stock 241 heads. Would this be a nice upgrade or about the same, he says hes gonna put them up for 900 but would do a straight trade for my rims

depends on the porting, TSP sells the PRC heads, 5.3 stage 2.5 brand new for under 1200 and that is top notch porting with springs rated for .650 lift. Depends on what you want. If you do not have flow numbers for the heads you are stuck with his word.

Do the comparison and make your choice. He has to have a reason why he wants to get rid of them and its not probably good. Specially if he is treading them for "rims". Just my .02

thats what im thinking, i mean he said he wanted $900 for them, but would do a straight trade for my rims. But if the heads are better then stock 241's then i would see it being to bad of a deal. Its just im not to smart on the flow numbers and such LOL

I'd rather have the pro stars than no named heads.. better off selling your welds and buying heads from a sponsor.

He sent you flow numbers that are up to 700 and I don't know too many street cars with a cam that have a lift of 700. Secondly the flow numbers are alright but not that "WOW" they are just a little better than stock numbers.

Casting Numbers 241, 806, 853
Head: 1997+ LS1 5.7 Liter Passenger Car
Material: Aluminimum
Part Number:
12559806 (1997-98) Chambers = 69cc
12559853 (1999-00) 66.67cc
12564241 (2000-03) 66.67cc
Combustion Chamber Volume: 66.67cc
Compression Ratio: 10.1:1
Intake Port Volume: 200cc
Exhaust Port Volume: 70cc
Intake Valve Diameter: 2.00 inches
Exhaust Valve Diameter: 1.55 inches

Stock Head Flow Numbers
Chamber 66.67 cc0.100--0.200---0.300---0.400---0.500---0.550--0.600
Intake 200 cc------67----122-----178-----215-----219-----223---227
Exhaust 70 cc------52-----97-----133-----156-----170-----76----180

Those are the stock flow numbers to .600 which is more respectably a cam that you might run. Any one with Windows 98 can put together numbers for ya you know.
