Default dumbest cam question every

Ok...so this may be the dumbest cam question ever and I know you guys are plenty of those...but here goes.

As you may have read in my other thread I had the infamous balancer bolt backing out problem on my newly purchased 02 z06... That usually means someones been in there for a cam, especially since my balancer looks factory. So.....how do I tell if the car is cammed? I mean.beyond just seat of the pants feel or the sound of the thing... It doesn't have any cazy lope or anything or sound too crazy...but I have nothing to compare too. I'm expecting to hear that its impossible without xray vision but I had to ask

take it to a performance shop and ask them if it sounds to them like it does, or if any of the parameters in the computer have been changed as if it did. You should be able to tell by a rougher idle, if not its a baby cam anyway and may not have had adjustments made, so yeah your pretty much right about the x ray goggle thing lol

Take it out and measure it... you know you want to put a cam in it anyway.

I've had the bolt back out a couple of times on my z06.... Gees its not fun having to remove the steering rack and all just to seat the balancer back on and install a new bolt.

A shop with tuning software will be able to tell if the tune has be modified to accommodate an aftermarket cam. No need to open it up.

^Very true. It sucks to pull the damn rack just to access the pulley. That's why when I did my H/C I went ahead and did an UD pulley at the same time since it was off anyways.
