I have run the caddy lifters all season in my mustang and my motor guy thinks they are possibly junk. The whole valve train is very noisy but then again it is a race car lol.

I think I am going to run a solid roller setup this season. I will have the motor out of the car in the next week or so and I will inspect the lifters and valve train really good. I will report back if I see a problem.

I spun this motor several times to 7500 rpms+ with a 242/248 dur cam.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I also had an LS7 lifter fail in my H/C/I LS1 car. Only 1200 miles or so on the lifters too. The entire install was done by a professional sponsor here on Ls1tech. Not so sure I want to use LS7 lifters on my next build.

The stock lifters that came in the LS1 from the factory lasted until 125,000 miles before being replaced. I replaced them with another set of OEM LS1 lifters. One of them started making noise at 228,000 miles. I replaced that set with another set of stock lifters. Looks like about 100,000 miles is about the life cycle on the stock lifters. The two cams that have been in the engine had lifts in the .590 range. I have had excellent results with stock lifters and rocker arms.

Then take a look at Morel Lifter's. I truely am sorry about your lifter failure. For some reason the most members on this site think LS-7 lifters are magic and can handle anything, but that's just not the truth. Just out of curiosity did any shops tell you to use the LS-7 lifters?
