It has been done, but borderline on material. Would not do it for any kind of power adder.

I did this. I had to sonic test two blocks to find one that was thick enough for me. I only plan to spray a 150 shot, and my block was offset bored on three cylinders to maintain the maximum wall thickness. It is only thin on the pin sides on the middle chambers. The thrust sides are all thick enough. By thin I mean .92", which is acceptable. I would stick to .030 bore and save yourself the headaches of finding a suitable block.

I believe Texas-Speed sells their budget 396 motor with a 4.060 LQ4 block, and their sh** rocks!
