you can say your cam will have a very aggresive "thunder" lobe, but what exactly is that? is there a certain ramp rate or calculation you are using to conform to this? so you have X lift and and X duration...what is you specification for how steep the lobe is to be considered that? all i see is these terms thrown around and i just want someones answer to these questions...

just being a fast ramp rate isnt good enough for me...i want to learn here
Thunder has their own specific lobe that comp has ground for them. The TR cams have an xe-r lobe without the xe-r high lift. This means that the cam lobe looks more like a square based on the very agressive ramp rates without the very aggressive lift. In other words, the lobe intensisty (the advertised duration number - the at .050 duration numbers) is the same as the xe-r lobe.

Just put it in tune it and see what you think

Are your heads milled? Are you using 1.8 yts on a xe-r lobe? What icl is your cam installed at? Any dyno numbers or track times?

wouldnt the only way be to find that out is have a thunder cam put on a machine to get that lobe angle on a specific lift?

i understand what you want to do...im asking how you are finding that information to incorporate into your cam specs...

Talking to Jeff at thunder racing has helped a ton. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I have come accrossed so far as far as cam theory goes. Also, he didn't seem to think I would have p to v issues. The cam comes with cam doctor information also, so they do put it on a machine.

How do u like the 234/238...I'm considering swapping my X1 for one but on a 114 LS or 112...depending on Jaysons majical dyno touch....
It's great, very responsive, the engine was put on an engine dyno for tunning and it made 485hp @ 6100 rpm 450 ftlb @ 4800 rpm through my exhaust and cats.
when dynoed with out exhaust it made 510hp @ 6100 and 460ftlbs @ 4800.
On the same dyno a stock LS1 makes 340hp.

The converter flashes to 4600 and gear changes are at 6750...between shifts the engine never goes below 5200.

I think on these lobes would be best suited to a 108 or 110 LSA any wider and it would be useless in small motor.

My heads are milled 0.10", yes we are using 1.8 YT's on an xe-r lobe, the lifters have some preload.
It's installed 3 degrees advanced ie. 105 ICL

So far I have only raced it on a hot day and got an 11.7 @ 114 mph 1.61 60' (2100 DA)
My race weight is 3850lb.
I would guess on this day the engine would be making about 440 hp. So bring on the cooler weather and we will get the full benifit.

Non wander you had to flycut. Between that amount of advance, milling the heads, the size of the cam, and using the 1.8 rockers.
