Default ls2 to ls1 conversion

ok i made a deal with a friend of mine to swap engines...I have a ls1 out of a 2001, he has a ls2 from his 04 gto. He is willing to do the swap now and i want to make sure he has everyone to have the engine started. Do i need anything to make his car run with the ls1? I can swap parts from the ls2 on to my ls1 in order to make it run and i can worry about conversion stuff later to make my car run with the ls2.... ANy feed back will be great.

We have conversion kits to swap LS2 motors into LS1 based cars and back the other way. You'll need some conversion harnesses along with a LS2 timing set and front cover for the cam sensor. Other than that, it's pretty basic. However, like mentioned above, confirm what motor it is as the '04 GTO should have a LS1 in it.

The easiest way to confirm is the head casting number(assuming that his car still has the stock heads). If it is an LS1 it will have 241's and an LS2 will have 243's or 799's. I'm a bit unsure why anyone would want to trade an LS2 for an LS1 though.
