I would first upgrade the clutch, rear end........ then do h/c with forged pistons and rods.....save you a lot of money and you will have a reliable drivetrain.....

dont forget you have 568 ft lbs of tq @3500 rpms right now........if the clutch isnt done yet that will make the most noticible improvement

hope you love the car!

Did you ever have any tranny problems? I know every once in awhile it will pop out of 3rd and 4th. Think the tranny can handle a good h/c? I still havent sprayed on a full bottle but getting it filled next week.

Never had any tranny issues the clutch would slip in 3rd-4th if it was hot already on the spray......if it was cold it would hold ok.

K here is what you do.... you build the 383 motor with small cc heads say 60cc and a thin headgasket. So when you get really board of the 450hp you can swap out the heads to 72 cc and a 051" headgasket and finally go turbo and make some real power.

+1; Personally, I'd get the motor done first then go from there because once you decide which route you'd like to go with you car, your motor is one less thing you'll have to worry about.

Have you considered a Procharger D1 kit from EPP? Pretty close to your $6K budget - will easily cover your 450 hp.

i just dont really see the point with stroking the engine, the stock crank is good too 700-800 hp easy and 450rwhp can easily be had w/o stroking ....... with your budget you would be better off doing h/c forged rods/pistons and then keep the spray.
