Another way to think about it is = with my 3,800 stall anything below.say 3,600rpms does not matter at W0T, as long as it enough below that for cruise I'm happy

The TR224/224 kinda has my eye. Do you know of any other cams that make more power than that cam but still have decent driveability?
Driveability is in the tune and the driver. If you go around smashing the pedal at every light, your gas mileage will suck regardless if you go 224 or T-rex. The 228r seems to make pretty good power and is easy to tune.

I swapped my small sized Comp Cam (212/218 .558/.563 115) which made 371 whp out for a Torquer 2 and now make 401 whp. My tuner did a great job with it, my gas mileage hasnt changed much and it drives great. The Torquer 2 pulls like a freight train too

I'm still fine tuning my tune and on my 30 mile trip to work tonight (normal driving) 15 miles of back roads and 15 miles of highway I pulled an average of 19 mpg and by the time I'm finished should be up over 22 mpg... Stock mpg was only 16.5 lots more power AND better economy

Haha but of course. No man I drive it normal most of the time, yeah I'll get on it a few times (expected), but it is my daily driver.

what are the specs on a Torquer v2? just wondering

The GM ASA is a cam that I think gets over looked way to much.
It makes GREAT TQ and its flat. And it sound BAD ***! easy on the valve train and you can use the stock yellow LS6 valve springs...

232/234 .595/.598 112, 113, or 114. I went with it on a 112

Mine is much quieter that either of those considering I have a stock catback through a Magnaflow factory replacement

Asian cam of choice: tsp 228r (588 lift). Not sure why somebody found it odd asians would like muscle cars. If you grow up in the states you are more than likely culturally american except you eat more rice than most.

I personally had a 232/234 .595/.598 112 in my TA before I got my X3 and I really did love it but it actually isn't as smooth as my X3 is now but it still pulled pretty dang hard! It's a great cam also!

Trust me stay away from them!
who did you get that from though? I've had a good run with them, put 40,000 on one before and it was good. I was skeptical but had a motor to try it on the first time and it was good so I figured why not. I do agree that theres some that suck out there.....

There are a few sizes avalible on ebay lited as (fresh copy cam) sold by blueandsiler200x.

I'd stay away from those, they look good but are not rehardened after being reground

i prefer the stock cams. ls1, ls2, ls6...there is so much power lurking in these engines, a cam swap is the last thing i'd do if i was trying to go fast.

Hmmmm well I heard a TReX was radical as hell. And you have to have a 4000 stall for it. Please tell me the good news lol. If it is good enough news then I might consider a TReX.
man i own a speed shop i have ran about every cam that has every been out buy tsp and thunder no both owners well i love tsp cams and thunder cam and i love the trex but the best all around cam i have every run in a head and cam car is a track cam form tunder iam telling you i did some cars same heads same intake and the track cam beat the trex and the stick 3 and it cuts up harde

Personally i would say it has been the f13 for me , great cam for low end and mid range power and still good on the top end . I know its all in the set up but with full exh. afr head and a little 3200 stall from circle-d it made my car run a best of 11.69 at 117.4 . Thats a full weighted 2002 ws6 with just nitto dr in the back. The one thing that i could say is you need a good tuner or it will have some surge in it at about 1800-2200 rpm luckly my tuner got it out of mine "mike at G-force is the man".

Absolutely. At first I was going to go with an MS3. Then after getting advice from the great people on this board, I narrowed it to the T2 and the 228r. I was worried about driveability, surging, etc. My tuner said no worries and that he would make sure it got back to me with no issues. Im really glad that I went with the T2. You wont be sorry!

Narrow lobe separations generally produce better peak power, while wider lobe separations generally make more consistent horsepower throughout the rpm range. Narrow LSAs are somewhat trickier to tune as well.

I would also like to add do not buy SLP headers. I would recommend LPP, Pacesetter, ARH, Kooks, QTPs, Hooker, or any other headers for that matter. It just depends on how much you want to spend.

As far as a y-pipe look for something that has a nice merge like the American Racing Y.

Well I have made somewhat of an elimination now down to the T2, MS3, and the TR 224/224. That Torquer v2 cam though sounds like it would give me the most power and good driveability. I would like the best of both world like I said, but the power is my #1 concern lol. Also I know a guy not too far from me at Simple Quick Racing (you might have heard of them) and he said he can tune it to however I want. Again, thanks for the input. You really helped narrow down a hard decision haha.
