Its the combustion chamber difference as to why people are using the 5.3's. I think it gets your CR up to 10.75:1 as well. If you put them on your car, what is going on your truck? The 853's? Get a cam and a stall. That will help you get anywhere in a hurry.

You are also limited to 2.02"/1.575" valves with the 5.3 heads for as big as you can go. I would personally choose the LS6 style for more power. They are more expensive, but its how fast do you want to spend right?

Something like whats in my sig or smaller. The 228r from Texas Speed in very popular and I believe most anyone can tune it without problems. Makes great power everywhere too.

you get a pretty good lope with that cam dont ya. if i went with something similiar or that cam what hp numbers could i expect? and what kind of drop in et. also i dont know if this changes anything but im thinkin about pulling that tranny again and going with a 3500 stall. i put one in a buddies lt1 yesterday and i absolutly love it with his loudmouth

Since you already have a 2,500 stall I'd jump up to a 3,600-4,000 stall. My Trickflow 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa sounds big but was very easy to tune in. If you want to save some money you can pull your stock heads and have them ported and milled, I ported and milled my 241s .040" to bump it up to 11:1 lots of power and still very streetable with this setup.

I don't know if your 5.7 heads will work on the smaller bore 5.3, you might run into valve to bore clearance problems... Not sure though
