Default Low stall speed slowing me down?

My car pulls like crazy from any roll, but as soon as it shifts into 3rd, it seems to fall flat on its ***. Not sure if its a tuning issue, or its the stall. The car has an F13 cam, but only a 3200 Vig. The conveter was put in a long time ago before the cam. It does need a new tune for sure, which is getting done very soon, but I'm not sure if I should pull the converter out and get it re-stalled to like 3800-4000. Also, I should mention the car is a DD right now as well. Thanks.

Are you sure it isn't shifting into OD and falling on its face instead of 3rd?

Regardless, I say go 4000.

Yeah, its not shifting into 4th. If I hit it from anywhere from 40-60, it downshifts, and then when it shifts into 3rd, around 80+mph i think, it seriously stops pulling as hard.

could be a tuning issue but moving to a 4K+ stall wouldn't hurt either!

Haha, I know going to a 4k stall would help out, but since its my dd, I wonder how much worse my gas milage would be. I only get 20mpg on the highway and don't even want to think about city driving lol.

3rd gear sucks in autos. Gears helped me out some that's why I was asking.

its weird you guys say that, ever since the stall it seems like when I hit 3rd instead of slacking it just has a snappy shift (built transmission) then keeps on rolling just as hard if not harder than 2nd gear all the way to 120 before it starts to run out of steam some but still pulls good to at least 130

before the stall it fell on its face but I discovered when the transmission was apart a 3rd gear fluid passage was partially blocked so that's why it always felt like ****

You are correct in you thinking. They call it a shift extention. You will drop less RPM between gear changes with a higher stalled convertor. I have the same problem between 2nd and 3rd. I'm either going to restall my VIG or buy a Circle-D 5C or a Yank PT 4400. So with a bigger convertor in your ride instead of the rpms dropping way too low hitting 3rd you would only drop maybe 1000rpms from 6500 to say 5500. And that keeps you up in the motors power band better. The way I understand it anyway.

You need a bigger converter. Whats your shift extension now?

Yea, get a bigger converter... and then give me your old one

Really, sounds like the bigger converter will help ya some man. I am debating on which one I am gonna get later, 3800ish or go strait for 4k for the 02. Sounds like your dropping out of the power band when it shifts. Didnt tyler also change his to higher for this reason as well as he was blowing through it with the NOS?

Your HWY mpg won't change a bit. You will drop about 2 mph TOPS in city. The performance gain will make up for that plus some though.
