AFR225 Yella Terra Rocker Clearance
I've got AFR 225's and they have been slightly clearanced for the Harland Sharps that used to be on them. I just put Yella Terra Ultralights and they don't seem to have nearly any clearance. Is it normal that there are these issues? Just typical that you always have to grind away some head material?

I have Yella Terras on my AFR 205 without any need for grinding on the head. My AFR 225s going on my 408 look fine with the Comp shaft rockers. I don't know why you would have any clearance problems with yours. A picture would be helpful. Here is my AFR 225 with Comp shaft rockers:

I actually was using your guide yesterday to check the wipe vettenuts. I found that it wasn't as bad as I thought, but when I used a .050 shim it was relatively perfect. I used my caliper for a washer I had here to check, but I'm going to order shims from Mcmaster-carr today.
I spoke with AFR yesterday and they said that these were an old casting. They said they didn't change their casting until a few years ago, and since these were ported by TEA who hasn't purchased castings from AFR in some time (possibly they bought a large batch in the past and are still using them) they were likely the old ones. I thought it was bs about the fact they felt "aftermarket rockers were not very popular in 05 and 06" so their casting wasn't clearanced for them. I guess I'll be grinding today.

Just a side note. The shims will alter pushrod length requirements. Also, make sure you verify they clear the valve covers. I have much thicker shims and really needed to do some clearancing on the inside of the valve cover. You will likely need to remove the baffles and do some grinding there as well. In the end its a lot of work but I think worth it. I recently had mine apart and you can see the wipe pattern on the valve stems if you shine the light just right. The wipe pattern was right where I set it and very narrow and centered.

I have some aftermarket valve covers that should clear anything. Nice polished aluminum valve covers I ordered the .047 shims from Mcmaster Carr in the 11/32" ID 13/16" OD this morning. Valve wipe looked good with about a .050 shim. Also pushrods don't fit. Got a pushrod checker on the way.
