Tie steering wheel with a rope or keep it locked during removal/install of rack. There are usually brackets on each end of the rack which must be removed. The innner rods and universal must also be removed. Is rack leaking or high side hose from the pump? It's easier to replace a leaking hose than the entire rack.

it is leaking from the seal at the point where the rack and the steering shaft meet. suspected hairline fracture, but wont know till i pull it out.
