Mast motorsports l92 small bore 12 degree ls1 heads?

Guys don't say anything about any product until you read the details from the vendor it self ! .. simply I go to their website and read that this heads are recommanded for 3.900" bore - 3.930" bore .. which means strocked LS1

I personally think these things are a nightmare. For one, they seem to only fit a limited range of applications (383ci LSx) but for the money, there are much better heads out there! You could probably take a GM L92 casting and replace the seats and valves and fit them on a 3.900" bore block for probably half the price.
Now if they replicated an appropriately sized LS7 port for a 3.900" bore, then it may be a different scenario altogether.

Really? I could have sworn that I read somewhere that you can use a 3.905 bore with a stock stroke...

The heads were actually designed to benifit a 383 combo more than a stock LS1. They stepped up to test the heads for Mast to see hwat they would do on a stock LS1. Stock stroke Ls1 engines typically like a smaller valve and a smaller port than what these have. I am sure you will see some testing in the future that proves these heads do work. As far as a LS7 type port, no way in hell. There is not a manifold in the world that will go along with it that will make any torque. The LS7 intake is no intended for anything under 400 inches. I still think the best combo for a 346 is a 215 cc head with a Fast intake.

The way I see it, they are aimed at a market that is almost guaranteed not to buy these heads as long as they carry a $3600 price tag. It seems like the overwhelming majority of guys who build a stroker around a 3.90" bore LSx block, didn't want the additional weight of an LQ4/9, but didn't have the budget for an LS2/3/7 block and therefore didn't have the budget for a set of heads this expensive. The guys who actually do have the money to buy a set of $3600 cylinder heads for their stroker, also have the money to build something with a larger bore, and are not going to mess with a relatively small (and limiting) 3.90" bore. It just seems as though Mast missed the mark in a big way with these heads.

This is an Old thread I know, but I am looking at a 383 build and considering these heads for it. I see the price has come down to around 2500.00 for the pair (not including rockers). Just wondering if there was any further information out there on this combo with a 383 LS1/6. Thanks

i have a futral motorsports f13 cam with a 230/232 .595"/.585" on a 112 lsa in my 01 ws6. its a cam only for now and made 410 on the dyno with stock 241's besides having prc dual valve springs and the rockers being upgraded to trunion bearings instead of needle bearings. my curiosrity is weather a nice set of ported 243's or these small bore l92's would be better? seeing how the intake port on the l92's are so much bigger would the cam benefit more from it? i would like to see some test's of the 243's up against these small bore l92's with some different cam's to see which would come out on top becuase really we are all going on opinion and not cold hard numbers. because to this day so far 243's have come out on top as far as i know. and seeing that they are 12 degree heads i would think that larger cams would benefit more then the 15 degree heads because the in coming air doesnt have to make larger transition curve into the cylinder. i would like to see more on these but still the price is way too high, i mean 3600 for complete set of heads and thats still with out the proper pushrods and the bolts, etc.
