Default Cam for a 6.0 to be in a 408 later.

I am not going to have the money to build my 408 with this tax year. So my plans have changed.
I am getting a lower millage 6.0 to put it the truck and will put a cam in it. hopefully over the summer compile the parts I need to build my 408 next winter and put the cam into the 408.

My question is what is the cam that will be not too big for my fairly stock 6.0, but big enough for the 408 next year? I was looking at a mid 220s cam will this work for both applications? A direct link to the cam would help me out. Thanks
P.S. I will run up to 200 hp nitrous by the end of the year on the 6.0 and plan to run 200-250 on the 408.

I would think you would be leaving a lot on the table running a mid 220's cam in something like a 408.

Why not just buy a cam you like for the 6.0 and sell it when the time comes for the 408?

If that needs to be done then I will have to. I was hoping to be able to by a multi purpose cam. If it helps, I don't need street manners and have a mild 2800 stall.

If it won't work in the 408 that is fine but what is going to be the best cam for the 6.0 then. Again a link will be best I will order this cam next weekend. Tax money is coming Friday.

This is the biggest I think might make sense.

I know some may say it is too big. What is the general consensus? I am guessing it wouldn't be a total dog on the street but you will notice the loss of low end power. But fast at the track is all that matters. I am buying a car so I will drive the truck to the track and only when I want to.

Please don't bash if you think it is too big just state that is the case and offer a better choice.

It might be big enough for my 408?

That cam will be a dog @ the track too unless you have 4.10 gears @ least and minimum of 3800- 4000 converter. For a truck regardless of 6.0 or 408 you need low end and midrange power to get it moving. Even a fast intake peaks around 6400-6500. You will be alot happier with a cam in the mid to high 220's @ .050 . Why not get Patrick G to spec you one . it does not cost but a few $$ more and you will be alot happier in the end. Geoff @ EPS has some nice cams too.

Lots of duration in a heavy *** truck with stock gears and a 2800 stall.= Dog down low as well as at the track. You probably need to stick to the mid 220s or have a cam spec'd for you.
