WOW...20-30 hp from the plug gap would be completely awesome. I will pull them all and regap them this week, probably x-mas day...LoL...While I have them out, I will do a compression test to while I am at it...

Is it that more accurate to have the wideband in a bung welded on the header? Seems like it would only register half the air or something, i know the motor should be the same on the other side....heck...i dont know...

Joe, its the small things that get us. I have been used to running around with only 24-25* timing max. And TR6 plugs at .032, the car is lazy dog on NA. Nitrous, well it has ran better, but I am trying to get equal bottle pressure weather etc... before I commit to blaming anything.
I need to throw in a set of TR55s, gapped at .053 and up my timing back to 33* +/- 2* and run this bad boy so I can get an accurate read on its NA ability.

Let us know how it works.

Charlie.

Ya know, I might just switch back to the tr55's all together...The first couple times I sprayed, it was on 55's gapped at .050 or so, and it seemed to do fine...of course it was basically stock then...went 11.9's though...

oh no, I wouldnt spray on that large a gap or hot a plug unless you doing really small shots.

there is no way that airfuel is right....your car has o2 problem or the wideband is off. Your atap data is showing .990's to 1.0 that is pig fat! get them down to the .900 range.

I have been wondering about an O2 problem, they seem to be extremely far apart sometimes. Is there a way to test them? Maybe ohm them out? Plug gap will be changed friday. So say I am at 11.5:1 now, opening the gap up should burn more of the fuel, and lean me out some right...?

I want to try to get a few of these things tracked down before I go dyno again. I still think that I should have seen more hp gain by adding 7*-8* of timing though...maybe thats gap related too....

if it has a wide gap between banks I would look for an exhaust leak near the o2 sensors. Then lean that fat pig down!!! you can't make hp with that rich of a car.

You will see very nice gains once it is leaned out some!

OK, I swapped plugs today, back to TR 55's, gapped at about .054". I also did a compression test today, and everything seems to be good...

1 - 170 - 175
2 - 190 - 195
3 - 180 - 185
4 - 175 - 180
5 - 180 - 185
6 - 175 - 180
7 - 180 - 185
8 - 175 - 180

So they all seem to be pretty good. The main reason I wanted to compression test, was to see if I could find a reason for this next part...

I didn't post about this before, but I was catching a fair amount of water in my catch can. It seemed to have a orange tint to it, but that could have been condensation with some oil vapors mixed in. Although from checking the water level from time to time, it would be a little low, so I would refill it, then it would be fine for awhile. So the other day I decided to clean out and completely empty the overflow resevoir incase it was pulling water from there. It has been empty for 4-5 days now, and the water level is down just a bit. I am going to keep watching it for a few days to see if it keeps getting lower. There is a little more in the catch can. I emptied it out before into a glass jar. It didnt seperate as well as I thought it would if it were all water and oil. This water doesnt smell so much like antifreeze, or oil, but more like exhaust gas...??

I know its possible to be burning the water off somewhere. I had a buddy that had a small pinhole though one of this ports into the water jacket, and it would lose water there. I am wondering if I am having the same problem. I guess I need to have the cooling system pressurized to see if it is losing it somewhere....

any thoughts..? Do those numbers seem right for a 90,000 mile motor...?
